Uncertainty

The last few weeks my pain has gradually gone from a 7/10 to 9/10, I've gone in to the doctor and the Ultrasound and EV tests came back clear as always theres nothing on paper to show what's going on. The walk-in Dr. hardly cared enough to look at me she just sat there looking at the screen, pushed on my stomach where it hurts of course and then dismissed me with a requisition for more tests and a prescription for Tylenol 3 which has not even touched this pain.

Theres a dreadful feeling that I could always be like this. In pain with no answers. Speaking of which the blood test results came back and my iron is still awfully low which means I'm losing blood somewhere or I'm not producing enough. Yet, I know I'm losing it somewhere as I see it every now and then in the most uncomfortable places. The stool tests for parasites, and blood are still not back after at least three weeks...which is not a good sign. Food is still not digesting in me, which makes it seem redundant to eat as I can't break it down, it hurts my intestines, and it clearly does not want to stay in me. When the pain grew unbearable I went in to the Dr. last week originally it seemed like appendix yet, the Dr. said that I have all the symptoms of colon cancer so I am completing testing for it. I think the most troublesome factor is that my chronic fatigue has doubled and I feel as if I haven't slept in months. I can't hardly focus on school which is frustrating cause I'm already a touch behind I feel like I push sooooo hard to stay awake, pretend I'm not in brutal amounts of pain just to keep going and I'm still not doing good enough. Theres a million things I need to do and no time to do them, and no strength to do them. I've come to a point where it's all I can do to just survive the day, just not go to the hospital, to just get out of bed. I stare at my text rereading the same page five times and not remembering a thing a going back and trying again. I push really really hard so it's not notice that I've taken the max amount of strong painkillers. I push really really hard so that it's not noticed how far I'm falling. And at times I just want to give up, and lie down. I just want the pain to stop and be normal again. I'm trying so hard and watching everything pass me by, I'm trying so hard to not show the cracks in my armour, to not show weakness. Just keep pretending.

There's a mask I wear, and armour I put on as I get up and ready for the day. A mask to hide tears, the pain, and the doubt. The armour to show strength where behind it only lies weakness, the armour shiny and new makes the mistakes so discreat that they can be passed off as

I feel guilty and ashamed of being so weak, I try to hide the cracks in the armour I'm really discreat. It looks so nice and shiny on the surface. I buff the outter layers and keep them looking new because if anyone saw the cracks the armour might just crumble

Once Upon a Foggy Thursday

Today has come and gone, with my head in an absolute fog. As my body works out a cold sweat and some deep chest and back pains that remind me of what it would feel like to get hit by a piece of wood thats kicking back out of a plainer in a woodworking class. And so, I'm left desperately trying to focus on studying for my midterms, and praying that I do well in spite of this awful, thick as pea soup fog that I can barely think through. 

The Adventures of Tom and Sally

Part 1 Once upon a time…as all great stories start; “Tom” was sitting in a Starbuck’s on the East side of the universe, drinking his morning tea. When a girl in a yellow trench coat walks in; heading straight for the till, and waiting patiently in line till she reaches the barista and in a small quiet voice the girl orders a venti orange mocha with 2 shots of esspresso. After paying, she proceeds to wait at the counter for her coffee with a sleepy smile on her face. When the coffee arrives she sips it, and wanders out to her parked UFO. Which lucky for Tom, wouldn’t start. And so excitedly, Tom got up…Thinking of how this could be a sign, to go and talk to the mysterious girl? Yet just as he had walked over to the door, and was about to step outside, “Sally’s” UFO started up with a bang(!) That instantly made “Tom” jump back from the shock of the loud engine's noise. And so “Sally," unaware of “Tom’s” existence by the door, was oblivious to this unusual boy and flew off.

And so for now Tom and Sally are like two butterflies that have never met.

De avonturen van Tom en Sally

Greek style beef souvlaki in the Slow Cooker

I hate being confined to a bed, I look around and see so many things I want to be getting too. It's like the story of the tortoise and the hare the moral being that slow and steady wins the race. But, feeling slow like the tortoise in the story, I can't agree the tortoise as I feel too slow as things pile up that I need to get to. But I also don't disagree with him because I have yet to see the end of this race, I do hope he is right tho... Through my own curiosity I was looking back to the story's origin, upon which I found an interesting biblical connection that interpreters of this story link to Ecclesiastes 9:11 which does sound very similar and is worth a read. Any who, Speaking of being slow, I've had a craving for greek food since we drove past a greek restaurant on our way into the fireworks this past weekend. I suppose it could be because as we drove past it occurred to me that I haven't had greek food in a long time, and I love greek food thus, I've just spent two hours attempting to create my own beef souvlaki. I scoured the internet looking for a greek beef souvlaki dish, but one that could be done in the slow cooker as I haven't been able to stay on my feet lately. I scoured and scoured to no avail, and so I took a bit from this recipe and that a bit from another recipe, and then looked up long lists of substitutions as I never have the right ingredients, or spices. Plus, I find it a little redundant finding a quick easy recipe only to have to go to the store to buy groceries for it, which takes up your quick easy time and turns into a wow-that-took-way-too-long recipe. And so, this is what I came up with:

Greek style beef souvlaki in the Slow Cooker
1/2 c. lemon juice
2/3 c. chicken broth (both recipes called for white or red wine but this is a great substitute)
1/4c. water
1/4c. olive oil
2 garlic cloves minced
baby potatoes diced
1 onion diced
3 celery stalks chopped
stewing beef chopped (smaller bits to go further for lunch tomorrow :) )
Added a dash of basil, sage, and spaghetti spice
let cook on high for 3 hours and wha-la, my husband comes home and says "That smells amazing!" and that's what it's all about :) He's happy and my tummy's happy and I sat while it cooked so I'm not in more pain from cooking and can actually relax and eat without nasty pains taunting me. Okay, that's a lie nasty pains taunted me..but not from the cooking scenario, thus it's a no-pain-payment meal success!
The trick these days is to just do little thing at a time, and take a break and then do a bit more.

Than the surgeon came to talk to me about my gallbladder that was full of stones yet in his opinion it would be best for me to wait another four weeks to get an appointment with him for surgery to remove it later as the tests showed no inflammation of the gallbladder wall. Yet, he asked me what I wanted to do after a long speech of how it's be better to wait and that it shouldn't be removed. But after having so so so much morphine and none of it coming close to touching the pain I told him with a concerned yet determined voice that if it is indeed my choice I wanted it taken out that night. A few hours later I was wheeled in and out of surgery with one less part never to be seen or felt again.

For a long while my body as physically mourned the loss of the small blue organ yet as of today has healed right up. Four tiny scars are all that's left of a once poisoned organ. the cherry on top was that after making the ultimate descion which was nerve racking as I cannot take it back once it's gone. We found out that although the ultrasound showed a thin walled ( not inflammex$ gallbladder, it was indeed thick walled which did not show up on the ultrasound. Meaning that had I not demanded surgery it may have burst due to the surgeons decision to want me to wait.

However today is another story with a new adventure. Today I am in my third day of being in the hospital, as Friday afternoon I came back with blood In my urine, and stool as well as immense pain in my lower abdomen and back. Still tests are being run, blood being taken and a large hole where a lack of answers grows larger. I have staued up two nights in screaming pain with nothing to help explain whats wrong even. My dr. On the ward compared me to a new car that has nothing wrong with it and in the same breath said that I should see a psychiatrist which both hurt my pride as a patient going through extreme pain. This morning my surgeon and his Asian side kick came in to discuss the little pea like balls we found in my stool again and being certain he said that they are not gallstones or kidney stones and that he would order an MRI of my gallbladder region to be 100% sure... If you ask me he's covering his ass, while being very rude.
